BUS 116

This week we will explore the Career Clusters, using them to begin thinking about areas of work that might interest us.

We'll also continue to refine our class workflow in the light of our experience last week.

Classwork

The purpose of studying career clusters is to give you an opportunity to become more familiar with the different kinds of careers out their as you plot your path toward your future.

The specific framework for the clusters can vary. The U.S. Department of Education model lists 17 clusters, while the one we are using, which comes from Advance CTE has 14.

Today we will make pair presentations of one of 14 career clusters. Here are the pairs and clusters I have:

Career Clusters

Cluster Period 4A Period 5B
Agriculture Jonah and Aaron Gus, Julian and John
Construction Ben and Alinna Micah and Zanai
Arts, Entertainment & Design Aya and Brooklyn Tim and Simon
Management &Entrepreneurship Patrick and Jack Zach and Ethan

Create a presentation on your career cluster that includes:

  • A description of the career cluster and why it is considered a cluster.
  • A list of many of the specfic occupations (jobs) that are in the cluster.
  • A summary of the education and training required for jobs in this cluster.
  • A summary of the range of expected earnings jobs in this cluster.
  • A summary of the number of jobs in this cluster and the expected demand for new hires.
  • Three or more links to sources you used in your research.

This assignment needs to be uploaded to Canvas in PDF format by the end of class on Wednesday and Thursday so that I have time to agragate them onto our website before classes Friday and Monday.
